Peer Review Process

JoMes applies a rigorous and transparent double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, validity, and originality of all published articles. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review stages.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the manuscript is first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Section Editor to assess its suitability with the journal’s aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, and overall academic quality. Manuscripts may be desk-rejected at this stage if they do not meet the basic requirements or fall outside the journal’s focus.

2. Plagiarism Check

All manuscripts that pass the initial screening will undergo plagiarism detection using similarity-checking software. Manuscripts with excessive similarity or unethical citation practices will be rejected or returned to authors for clarification or correction.

3. Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the editorial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, research interests, and experience in managerial education studies.

4. Review Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope

  • Originality and contribution to the field

  • Theoretical and methodological rigor

  • Clarity of structure and argumentation

  • Quality of analysis and discussion

  • Adequacy of references and use of current literature

5. Review Outcomes

Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial decision will fall into one of the following categories:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)

  • Reject

Authors will receive anonymized reviewer comments along with the editorial decision.

6. Revision Process

Authors requested to revise their manuscripts must submit a revised version along with a detailed response to each reviewer comment, indicating how the issues have been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.

7. Final Decision

The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewers’ evaluations and the quality of the revised manuscript. Once accepted, the manuscript proceeds to copyediting and publication stages.

8. Review Timeline

JoMes strives to provide timely and efficient peer review. The typical review process takes 6–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.
