Abstract

This study aims to explore and reactualize the educational values embedded in the al-ukhuwwah (brotherhood) hadiths within the al-Kutub al-Sittah and analyse their implications for shaping akhlak karimah (noble character) in the modern era. The contemporary digital age presents complex challenges, including social polarization, cyberbullying, and individualistic tendencies, which demand a robust ethical framework rooted in Islamic texts. Using a qualitative library research method and a thematic hadith analysis (maudhu'i) approach, this study examines six core hadiths that represent various dimensions of brotherhood in al-Kutub al-Sittah. The findings reveal that al-ukhuwwah is constructed upon five fundamental educational pillars: al-musawah (equality), al-mahabbah (mutual love), at-ta'awun (mutual assistance), al-ihtiram (mutual respect), and at-takaful al-ijtima'i (social solidarity). In the context of modern character building, these values serve as critical social-emotional learning tools that promote empathy, digital civility, conflict resolution, and anti-discrimination. Consequently, this study suggests that integrating al-ukhuwwah values into Islamic character education can effectively foster social harmony and cultivate individuals with well-rounded akhlak karimah who are capable of navigating modern societal shifts.
